Willowmere Celebrates 10 Years

Celebrating 10 Years!

On Wednesday 8th May 2019, the Willowmere Teams commenced the preparations for their 10th Anniversary celebrations. The teams decorated the Village Hall, Winter Garden and Restaurant with beautiful gold decorations, laid the tables ready for their three-course meal and got dressed to impress!

The days events started at 3pm, the Residents of Willowmere were welcomed to the Village Hall, with a glass of bubbly on arrival for their drink’s reception, whilst the U3A Brass Band set up in the background. Lizzie Powell – Operations Manager opened the event by saying a few words to welcome everyone to the celebration and reminisced of times gone by. Once everyone had enjoyed their complementary arrival drinks, helium balloons were given out to the Residents for a Balloon Release, along with a little tag to write on and attach to the balloon.

The fantastic U3A Brass Band played through the afternoon, whilst Residents sang along to tunes such as ‘somewhere over the rainbow’.

Residents then made their way down to the Restaurant, to tuck into their beautifully prepared three-course meal. Each were given the option of Prawn cocktail or Leek and Potato soup for a starter, Three-meat Carvery or Salmon and Hollandaise for the main and Profiteroles or Fresh Fruit Salad for pudding. The Willowmere Teams came together to provide the Residents with a waitress service, so that they could kick back and enjoy their day. Tony – a long standing Resident of Willowmere, finished the meal off by giving a very touching speech and thanks to the Staff Teams for all their hard work. Dawn Billington – RLS Sales Advisor (formerly Scheme Manager at Willowmere for 9 years) attended the event and kindly said a few words, along with Sasha Riley – Head Chef in the Willowmere Restaurant.

Residents were invited to retire to the Communal Lounge, to finish off the evening, with an outstanding performance from the fantastic vocal entertainer – Julie Scott, some Residents even decided to get on the dance floor for a little boogie!

Sam Dickens – Retirement Living Services Assistant said “What an absolutely fantastic day we had, it was lovely to see all the Residents enjoying themselves and socialising with their neighbours, everyone was dressed to the nines. A big thank you to all Residents for their attendance, the turnout was brilliant and also to our business partners – SOS Home Care and Cheshire East Catering for all their help with the event, it really was a great team effort. A great deal of planning went into this event, and judging by the amazing feedback we have received, all the effort was absolutely worth it! To the next 10 years…!”
