On Thursday, the 8th of August 2019, we suffered a catastrophic fire at our Residential Retirement Village, Beechmere in Crewe. It has been a tragic situation for everyone concerned.
The response from Your Housing Group and the wider community has been overwhelming. We are working with Your Housing Group to ensure they have everything they need to support the residents and staff.
Avantage is committed to minimising the disruption which has arisen on site extending to the initial demolition and clearance works which are underway, and ultimately to rebuild Beechmere.
Detailed investigations are ongoing in order to determine the precise cause of the fire, and we are continuing to work closely with Cheshire Fire and Rescue to help facilitate their investigation.
In the meantime people have been asking us about insurance. Our advice is that in the first instance you should approach your own insurers and advise them of the incident and the damage that may have been sustained to your property.

We’re devastated by the effects of the fire at Beechmere and relieved that everyone on site at the time were all safely evacuated.
Since Thursday 15th August, we’ve been working closely with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. The site at Beechmere is still in their control whilst they continue to make the site safe and carry out their investigations.
Right now, the ultimate focus will be to ensure regular updates are provided.
To help with this Your Housing Group will be providing an onsite presence in a mobile office facility at Beechmere where those with any questions or queries can pop in to speak to a liaison officer. This facility will be open daily from 10am till 6pm.
A dedicated helpline has also been set up to assist with any queries which is live from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday – 0330 135 9019.
